Baltimore & Ohio Railroad
Baltimore & Ohio System
Chicago: Rand McNally, 1922.
An attractive color United States map depicting the B&O railroad, along with connecting trains and ferries for travel throughout North America.
SOLD
Along the bottom edge are inset maps of Cuba and numerous Midwestern and New England cities, including Baltimore, New York, St. Louis, and Chicago. A curious feature of this 66 x 44-inch map is that the shapes of the states are distorted, particularly in the South and West. Florida is compressed vertically while California and Nevada, for example, are taller and thinner than expected. The map was produced by Rand McNally and in the lower margin bears the date 4-1-22, which may indicate when it was published. No holdings were located in OCLC.
The map is printed on heavy paper and mounted on wooden rods and is in generally very good condition. There are two vertical tears about 4 inches long along the bottom edge and some loss in the margins at the upper left corner and lower right side. The chips do not protrude into the map itself. There is minor dampstaining at the corners.
