Edward Denny & Co.
Denny's Official Map of the County of Humboldt, California
Showing townships, sections and property ownerships compiled from official surveys, records and private data.
San Francisco: Edward Denny & Co., 1911.
This is a very nice example of what is probably the best of the early 20th century maps of Humboldt County.

The map, measuring 54 inches across and 72 inches long, provides detailed information on the property owners throughout the county. The importance of timber to this Northern California coastal area is clearly evident in the large tracts of land in the hands of timber companies. The map also features an inset map of Eureka (the county seat) and a county map of the state. At 1.5 miles to the inch, this is one of the largest-scale maps of the region.
A scarce map, with no listings in OCLC. We are aware of two or three copies in local collections and this is in the nicest condition.
This map, originally printed in two sections and pasted together, is in very good condition but for a quarter-sized hole in the upper left. The damage is fortunately situated in the Pacific Ocean so it only affects a very short section of the coastline. There is some spotting along the top edge and a previous owner has colored in a small section of land near the Hoopa Indian reservation.
