According to the Oxford Companion to Music, Cikker (1911-1989) "influenced several generations of Slovak composers and was one of the founding fathers of modern Slovak music. His highly individual style was built variously from the late Romanticism of Novák, folk-influenced rhythm and modality, and even aspects of serialism."
Cikker completed nine operas and his house in Bratislava is now a museum.
This copy is inscribed by Cikker on the title-page with a musical quotation. Near fine in a jacket missing a few small chips from the top and bottom of the spine.
